Team Britain athlete involved in theft incident in Rio
A British Olympic group competitor was included in an occurrence of burglary in Rio de Janeiro while coming back to their settlement, the British Olympic Association said on Thursday.

The Guardian daily paper reported a colleague had been held up at gunpoint while coming back from a night out and the occurrence had happened at an early stage Tuesday.

"There has been an occurrence of burglary including a Team GB competitor coming back to their settlement," an affiliation representative said.

"All individuals from our assignment, including the individual concerned, are represented, and are protected and well," he said, without giving further subtle elements.

The episode comes after U.S. gold medallist Ryan Lochte and three partners said they were burglarized by outfitted men conveying police identifications while making a trip to the Athletes' Village in a taxi in the early hours of the morning after a gathering.

The episodes have stirred worries about the wellbeing of contenders and guests to Rio for South America's first Games, which finish up on Aug. 21.

English olympic style events authorities have prompted competitors against going into the city, the daily paper said, referencing an email sent to competitors.

"Try not to leave the town wearing TeamGB pack or convey anything of worth unless completely unavoidable – this makes you too huge an objective for robbery/wrongdoing," they advised competitors in the email as indicated by the report.

"You MUST advise an individual from group administration on the off chance that you are leaving the town and anticipating staying out overnight – kindly do this BEFORE you clear out."

"Rio is NOT a protected situation, and the level of wrongdoing has spiked in the most recent few days," the letter said.

"Ponder whether it is justified regardless of the danger of leaving the town to celebrate after you have got done with contending – BOA/UKA staff can't promise your wellbeing when far from the town/British School/British House.

"Our solid guidance is that it is essentially not worth the danger given the present atmosphere in Rio."
