RIO DE JANEIRO: Usain Bolt promised to go for a world record in Thursday's Rio Olympics 200m last after Jamaican countryman Elaine Thompson finished a shocking ladies' sprint twofold.

Brazil's football group set up a vengeance standoff against Germany — who smashed the hosts 7-1 in the World Cup two years prior - just to lose another key last to the Germans on Copacabana shoreline.

Jolt, helped by his win in Sunday's 100m last, looked relentless as he achieved the 200m last with a season's best of 19.78sec.

He had room schedule-wise to ease up 40 meters from the line and still complete in front of Canada's Andre De Grasse. Jolt trusts his reality record of 19.19sec is in danger.

"I unquestionably think I can strive for the world record, I certainly feel that," he said.

There was a stun as Bolt's US rival Justin Gatlin — the quickest man over the separation this year — neglected to make the last.

Gatlin, who has been booed in Rio more than two doping disappointments and came next in the 100m, faulted a lower leg damage endured in November.

Thompson, who sprinted to gold in the ladies' 100m on Saturday, dazed Dutch title holder Dafne Schippers to win the 200m in 21.78sec.

Schippers, who faltered as she went too far, took silver in 21.88. Tori Bowie of the United States won bronze.

Thompson, 24, devoted her triumph to the trailblazing Jamaican stars who have won Olympic gold in past years.

"It is exceptionally uncommon for me to win," she said.

"I spent my adolescence growing up watching Veronica Campbell-Brown and after that Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce."

Thompson is the primary lady to finish the twofold since late American world record holder Florence Griffith Joyner's execution at the 1988 Seoul Games.

In the last occasion, 2013 best on the planet Brianna Rollins drove a magnificent American scope of the main three in the ladies' 100m obstacles.

Rollins delivered a faultless showcase to clock 12.48sec in front of comrade Nia Ali in 12.59sec and Kristi Castlin in 12.61sec.

"It resembles a sisterhood," said Rollins.

"I've known these young ladies for quite a long time.

"I'm so appreciative and favored that we could finish this together."

Tianna Bartoletta of the United States upset shielding champion and partner Brittney Reese to take the long hop gold.

Bartoletta, a 2005 title holder who surrendered the game as she battled with wounds, secured triumph with her penultimate jump of 7.17m to thump Reese out of the gold decoration standings. Reese could just oversee 7.15 on her last hop.

However, it was a baffling long hop for Darya Klishina.

The main Russian competitor permitted to contend in the olympic style sports rivalry tailing her nation's doping embarrassment bowed out halfway through the last.

"Ten or 15 years back I couldn't envision that my first Olympic Games would be this way," said a disillusioned Klishina who won a world games tribunal request against a late IAAF doping prohibition on her contending in Rio.

In the day's other last, Conseslus Kipruto of Kenya won gold in the men's 3,000m steeplechase.

Neymar back

Brazil, who are not staying aware of decoration desires, had a day of trust and squashing dissatisfaction. Neymar scored twice — including the quickest objective at an Olympics in 15 seconds — as Brazil beat Honduras in the Games football semi-last.

They now confront Germany, triumphant 2-0 over Nigeria, in Saturday's last.

This will be a rehash of their Maracana stadium conflict in the World Cup last two years prior which the Germans won 7-1.

Barcelona star Neymar stole the ball from Honduras protector Johnny Palacios on the edge of the container and goalkeeper Luis Lopez's endeavor to spare ricocheted off Neymar's midsection and into an unfilled objective.

For a minute, Neymar's valiance looked irresponsible. He was stretchered off in the wake of being winded in the test yet returned and scored a late punishment to finish the defeat.

Germany incurred another renowned triumph over Brazil in the ladies' shoreline volleyball last, be that as it may, under a full moon on Copacabana shoreline.

Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst scored a determined 21-18, 21-14 win over Brazil's title holders Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas before a rambunctious group.
